Masturbation, Sex & Spirituality

Transcript

Our cultural conditioning has disconnected us from our sexuality as a spiritual practice...

I’m bringing my favourite topic to you today - Masturbation! I am joined by my friend and colleague Elaine Yonge. Elaine is described as a Celtic blend of breathworker, bodyworker, spiritual sexologist and scientist. Initially educated and practicing as a medical scientist, a crushing grief event altered the course of Elaine's life forever in ways she didn't expect. Today she merges the many traditions, trainings and lineages that she has studied, and supports people to integrate sexuality and spirituality in the body, mind and soul through her residential retreats around the world.

  • Origin story: Elaine was always fascinated by sex and spirituality until an unexpected grief event was the catalyst for blending of these disciplines.
  • Sex & Spirituality: From shaming sex to objectification of sex, our cultural conditioning has disconnected us from our sexuality as a spiritual practice. Elaine unpicks and rewinds those connections for us.
  • How To Heal #101: Ever felt confused about which discipline you ‘should’ be choosing? Discover why presence, connection and awareness are the keys to healing, whichever path you choose.
  • Self pleasure: Learn why it is such an important gift to give yourself. From pacifying hunger to happiness and health, self-touch is vital and available to us all.
  • Blocks to self pleasure: Uncover the perfectly normal challenges and things that get in the way of masturbation from feelings of shame, deservedness and judgement, to feeling numb or bored. Let’s unblock what's really going on.
  • How to self pleasure: Exploring examples of loving touch, encompassing breath, sound and movement to access pleasure, and demonstrating techniques.
  • Partner Dynamics: Explore the little discussed phenomenon of sexual jealousy, and how an open loving dialogue can help your partner to see self-pleasure as an important gift for the relationship.
  • Working with a professional: What it’s like to work with a somatic sex professional and why you might want to.

I hope you will find Elaine’s revealing, permissive style helpful to bring this important topic to you with grace and ease. I hope you enjoy the gift of Elaine's desire to help people find personal power and expression in order to live this life fully - whilst we have it!
